The Lottery Process

The 2026-2027 Application for regular education Pre-K classes must be completed online and will become available with the opening of Round 1 on February 1, 2026.  This regular education Pre-K program is funded through state and federal grants that use the gross monthly household income to determine eligibility.

The 2026/2027 application will remain open until April 1, 2027.

Round 1:  Feb. 1, 2026 - May 1, 2026
Round 2:  May 15, 2026 - June 5, 2026
Round 3:  June 25, 2026 - April 1, 2027

The online application can be submitted through a computer, smart phone or tablet.  Required documents can be uploaded directly from the phone or tablet's camera roll or from a saved file from the computer.  (TIP:  For faster processing of your application, please completely fill in all fields in the application - even if it is not required - and attach all necessary documents.)

Pre-K seats are NOT filled on a first come-first served basis.  Applications that meet the eligibility criteria and are marked eligible for the lottery are placed in a random computer-generated lottery.  All Round 1 eligible applications have the same opportunity of being selected in this lottery process.  This process is repeated for Round 2 if seats are available.  As seats become available, a waitlist lottery is run by the round that the application was submitted.

The child’s legal guardian must complete the application.  Guardians may select two (2) schools to apply for.  All first choices (#1) will be the child's home-based school. This is because your child should be attending that school for elementary. We only provide bus transportation to the home-based school.   If the child's home-based school does not have a Pre-K class, the parent/guardian may select two (2) other schools. The following schools will not have a regular Pre-K class for the 26/27 school year:  Eastside Elem., Freshwater Elem., and North Live Oak Elem.

Only Choice 1 applications will be processed to determine if it is eligible for the lottery or ineligible for the lottery.  The Choice 2 application will continue to show a status of "in processing" unless we can offer the child a seat with the Choice 2 school.  Because the information in the choice 1 and choice 2 application is the same, you can assume that if choice 1 was marked eligible, then your choice 2 is also eligible.  This would be the same if the choice 1 was marked ineligible.

Parents will be notified through an email of the application status after it has been processed.  ELIGIBLE applications will be placed in the lottery after each round has closed.  Round 1 applicants will be notified of their status through SchoolMint during the last week of school in May.  Round 2 and 3 applicants will be notified as seats become available.

*Please note that we only have 600 total Pre-K spots.  Once they are filled, your choice 1 application may remain "in processing" until spots become available.  If your application is processed and determined eligible for the lottery, your child will be placed on the waitlist and you will be notified if a spot becomes available.
